Abstract
In Croatia, the pandemic has begun in March, and a little after the first cases, the Croatian Institute of Public Health declared the closure of shopping malls and markets. Local producers were left without the opportunity to sell their products. The moment everything stopped, online networks opened. People were at home and spent most of their time on social media. It was a moment that local producers should take advantage of and with a strong promotion present their products, the benefits of consuming their products, and make people aware of the range of products they can buy from local producers. To research local producers’ reaction to the pandemic, an analysis was made on 32 local producers who were randomly selected. Two analyzes of promotional activities on social networks were conducted - before and during the coronavirus pandemic. The research has shown that many local producers recognized the moment of opening the market to the local consumers and increased their activity and quality of the promotion on social networks. On the other side, they should better take advantage of the situation and do more vigorous promotion on social networks.
