This paper provides a comparative analysis of trade dynamics and regional integration in three Sub-Saharan African regions: the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), and Nigeria. By examining the trade policies, regional integration initiatives, trade challenges, and trade dynamics, this study explores the trade landscape and opportunities within these regions. Additionally, the study evaluates the impact of regional trade agreements on intra-regional trade flows, focusing on the effectiveness of CEMAC's single external tariff and SACU's common external tariff in promoting trade integration. The findings emphasize the need to address trade barriers, enhance infrastructure, and foster regional cooperation to harness the economic benefits of trade. The analysis explores the complex interactions between global value chains (GVCs) and exports in several African economies. Understanding how GVC contributions affect these economies' export environments is essential for understanding their economic integration and diversification plans. The paper concludes by advocating for targeted policies and strategic investments to promote sustainable practices, strengthen value chains, and drive inclusive economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa. Leveraging agricultural resources and maximizing regional integration can serve as catalysts for economic development, poverty reduction, and overall progress in the Sub-Saharan African region.
