An evaluation of a company is a complex process that, depending on the purpose, available datas and goals to be achieved, begins by selecting the method that is considered as most optimal and which will give the best possible indication of value. Quality, objective, realistic and independent assessment is crucial for creating a perception of value and making the right business decisions that can affect the various internal and external stakeholders of the company. The theoretical part of this study covers an overview of the content of International Valuation Standards and the theoretical determinants of different valuation approaches and methods. The main emphasis of this study is on the two most important and commonly used valuation methods for companies: the multiple method and discounted cash flow method. The research part of the study covers a series of calculations, analyzes and comparisons based on the approaches of the two-based methods. On the companies that make up the Crobex stock index, which is the most important index of the Zagreb Stock Exchange, it was shown the calculation of the selected multiple methods and analyzed their mutual relations. Furthermore, the study includes analyze of relationships between the values within the individual multiples of other companies and the company HT d.d. which is also an integral part of the above index. The median value of the Crobex EV/EBITDA multiple was compared with the same value of the US stock index S&P 500, which represents the index of the 500 most valuable US listed companies. In addition, the stated values of the Croatian and American indexes were compared with the values of acquisition transactions of companies valued by the same multiple in the US market. On the example of the company HT d.d. it is shown the calculation of projected values obtained using the EV/EBITDA multiple method based on comparable observables, and the discounted cash flow method, which includes the projection of the entity's operations and futures cash flows and discounts them to present value using the weighted cost of equity.
