Human resources management is probably one of the most important functions in the organization of one company. Human resources management referse to employees as resources. It evolved from personnel management which is very automative, repetitive, and it views employees as factors of production, better say as costs. The paper is based on some functions of human resources management and those will include: job analysis, selection, job introduction, motivation, training, advancement, and detection of managerial talent. Job analysis identifies what people do in their jobs and what they need in order to do the job satisfactorily. Selection is the process of picking individuals to fill jobs in an organization. Job introduction is the implementation of new employees to the new working environment. Motivation is concerned with the ``whys`` of human behaviour. Training is used so employees are able to perform their tasks with minimal errors. Advancement and detection of managerial talent are one of the hardest decisions within a company. All of the above mentioned functions will be explained in details in the following chapters. Not only a theoretical part will be presented, but the student will show the linkage of the theory and the company where she works. The company where the student is employed is Decathlon Ltd., a Franch sporting goods retailer. It is the largest sporting goods retailer in the world. The company employes more than 80.000 staff from 80 different nationalities. In Croatia is present from 2014 when the first store opened in King Cross, Zagreb. Along with the functions of human resources management presented on the example of Decathlon, the student will propose some of the possible changes for some functions.
