Abstract | Zaposlenost je ključan segment svakog gospodarstva s velikim utjecajem na različite aspekte društva, politike i ekonomske aktivnosti, uključujući potrošnju, proizvodnju, inflaciju, socijalnu stabilnost, fiskalnu i monetarnu politiku, BDP te druge srodne faktore. Kriterij zaposlenosti i I&R igraju ključnu ulogu u istraživanju zaposlenosti u europodručju. Sveukupno, I&R ima ključnu ulogu u oblikovanju budućnosti gospodarstva i društva kroz kontinuirano traženje novih spoznaja i primjenu novih ideja. |
Abstract (english) | Employment is a crucial component of any economy with significant impacts on various aspects of society, politics, and economic activity, including consumption, production, inflation, social stability, fiscal and monetary policy, GDP, and other related factors. Individuals in a country can be self-employed or employed by others, and they can engage in work activities in the primary, secondary, tertiary, or quaternary sector. This study focuses on analyzing employment levels based on the level of investment in research and development (R&D) in euro area countries, which denotes the geographical area encompassing European Union (EU) member states that have adopted the euro as their official currency at different time periods. The criteria of employment and R&D play a crucial role in exploring employment dynamics in the euro area. R&D encompasses activities aimed at creating and advancing new technologies, products, and services. Its impact extends to a wide range of economic aspects of a country as well as the everyday lives of citizens. Through R&D, new knowledge, innovations, and technological advancements are generated, which can transform industries, stimulate economic growth, improve citizens' quality of life, and address societal issues. Research and development contribute to increased productivity, competitiveness, job creation, and the promotion of innovation and sustainable development. Overall, R&D plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the economy and society through the continuous pursuit of new knowledge and the application of new ideas. The aim of this research is to analyze employment in the euro area, using big data, in the context of the impact of investment in research and development. The analysis will not only encompass the overall level of investment but also categorize R&D investments based on sectors (business sector, government sector, higher education sector) to examine their influence on overall employment or employment in activities directly related to research and development. The priority is to understand the specific contributions of each mentioned category in terms of job creation and employment. This analysis has the potential to provide valuable insights into understanding the factors that significantly contribute to economic development and the overall well-being of life in the euro area. |
