The problem of environment became a subject of intensive interdisciplinary study in the last twenty years because of its devastating effect and grave consequences on all levels of human activities and life. Many authors throughout the world study the problem of carbon footprint from the economic point of view assuming that consumers‘ behavior, purchasing decisions, green consumption values and environmentally friendly products can contribute greatly to preservation of our planet and all life on it. This paper will try to study, carbon footprint, consumers behavior, purchasing decisions, green consumption values and environmentally friendly products in Croatia on the basis of the questionnaire and the conducted survey carried out during the academic year 2021/2022 among the students of the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics and Business .We will demonstrate that the problem of carbon footprint can be solved in a circular form from collective action to individual action and then back to collective action. We will demonstrate that an individual action can change very little because the problem is global and can be solved globally through consensus of all people and of all nations and through unified action. The individual action is desirable but not decisive. The main goal of the research will be to determine the state of environmental consciousness, proenvironmental purchase behavior and purchasing decisions and transportation decisions and habits of Croatian students.
