Abstract
Dinamični svijet 21. stoljeća zahtijeva neprestanu prilagodbu poduzeća na novonastale tržišne uvjete, kao i potrebu za neprekidnim rastom i razvojem njihovih poslovanja. Poduzećima na raspolaganju stoje brojni načini putem kojih mogu ostvariti svoje ciljeve u pogledu rasta i razvoja, a najčešća podjela spomenutih oblika jest na organske i anorganske oblike rasta poduzeća. Najznačajniji i najkorišteniji oblik anorganskog rasta poduzeća jesu aktivnosti spajanja i preuzimanja poduzeća (engl. mergers and acquisitions, M&A). Sudjelovanjem u M&A aktivnostima poduzeća nastoje stvoriti nova tržišta, odnosno proširiti postojeća te osigurati pristup tehnologiji koja im je potrebna kako bi njihova poslovanja ostala konkurentna na zahtjevnim tržištima današnjice. Upravo radi toga M&A aktivnosti imaju značajnu ulogu u razvitku europskih poduzeća koja nastoje osnažiti svoja poslovanja u želji da budu što konkurentnija u odnosu na poduzeća iz Sjedinjenih Američkih Država i Kine.
Abstract (english)
The dynamic world of the 21st century demands that enterprises constantly adjust their operations to newly formed market conditions, as well as the need for continuous growth and development of their businesses. Enterprises can achieve their growth and development goals through various ways and the most common division of these methods is on organic and inorganic growth methods. The most significant and most used inorganic method for enterprise growth are the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities. By partaking in M&A activities enterprises try to create new markets, expand existing markets and acquire access to technology that is required in order to make their businesses competitive enough to be part of the todays demanding markets. That is why M&A activities play a significant role in the growth of European enterprises which are trying to strengthen their businesses in the hopes of being as competitive as the enterprises from the United States of America and China.
