Human resource management’s role in a company is to ensure highest possible level of employee performance. HR team is responsible for the employees from their recruitment to their retirement or leave. It is an umbrella term that covers many functions that can be broken down to seven major ones: job analysis, planning, recruitment, selecting, orientation and training, employee development and motivation. When analysing Human resources management, job analysis is the first step since there has to be a defined way how a job is done and what qualifications it requires. When that matter is settled, HR can plan which individuals and how many of them are needed to fill those job positions. After the profile is decided, the manager has to choose the best channel for finding said individuals. Following that, selection is using an appropriate method for selecting the best fits for the organizations out of the applicants. Since every organization is different, there has to be orientation and training to make sure the new employees are integrated quickly and efficiently. Employee development ensues, where HR provides education and a way for the employees to grow. Along with this whole process, the employees have to be motivated through either material or non-material compensations. To give insight how the Human Resources Management is done in practice, McDonald’s restaurant in Rijeka is used as an example.
