Abstract
The sports sector, like other sectors, depends on delivery and supply. Therefore, it stands to reason that supply chain management (SCM) also applies to sports companies. This thesis analyses the perspectives of supply chain management implementation focusing on professional football clubs. Since the use of supply chain management in football has not yet been researched at the highest level, one objective of this thesis is to provide some important information about the characteristics and main... More features of the implementation and processes within supply chain management. The research in this thesis was conducted on the example of one of the best Croatian football clubs – NK Rijeka, which was chosen to determine whether the ideas of supply chain management can be applied to the management of football clubs. The results of the analysis show that the top management of football clubs can apply supply chain management at every level of the club’s business and that it is crucial to maintain long-term partnerships. Through the interview method, it was found that the supply chain process is a key factor of the club and a link between the club, the players and the spectators. Considering the trends in the market and increasing digitalization, it can be assumed that further adaptation to new ways of process management and communication between the club and its partners is necessary.
