Abstract
The thesis presents the impact that the monetary policies have on national economies, while placing a special emphasis on the euro area and Southeast Europe. Maintaining price stability is the main objective of the ECB, ESCB, and all of the national central banks of EU Member States. Each central bank places its primary focus on monetary policy. The monetary policy strategy uses the standard measures of monetary policy, that is the open market operations, constantly available opportunities and keeping the minimum reserves, as well as some further non-standard measures, such as the purchase of securities and government bonds on the secondary market. One of the main things that characterize the countries of Southeast Europe is a high degree of euroization, which in turn means that the exchange rate is the most powerful channel via which the monetary transmission can be implemented. Due to the current crisis that has emerged as a result of the pandemic, special attention is placed on the effect that the transmission monetary mechanism has on the economy.
