Abstract
With the purpose of better understanding salaries, this final paper is about salary calculation and salary components of the system in the Republic of Croatia and United Kingdom. Furthermore, it is shown how to analyze the accounting calculation and record keeping of salaries based on the appropriate accounting methods which are determined by law for every fiscal year. This paper examines and logically connects the legal and accounting rules and regulations which are explained through examples of calculation and recording an employee’s salary. In order to narrowly examine calculation phases and items in the calculation of salaries, several research methods are used which include: analytical, synthetic, inductive, comparative and descriptive method. At the end it will be concluded that every country has its own individual salary calculation system and core components such as gross and net salary, tax rates and tax brackets as well as salary contributions, will be understood, which is very important due to each country changing its system, i.e. component amounts and coefficients throughout the years.

U svrhu boljeg razumijevanja plaća, ovaj završni rad govori o obračunu plaća i komponentama plaća u sustavu Republike Hrvatske i Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva. Nadalje, prikazano je kako analizirati računovodstveni obračun i vođenje evidencije plaća na temelju odgovarajućih računovodstvenih metoda koje su zakonom određene za svaku fiskalnu godinu. Ovaj rad ispituje i logično povezuje pravna i računovodstvena pravila i propise koji su objašnjeni kroz primjere izračuna i evidentiranja plaće zaposlenika. Kako bi se ispitale faze i stavke obračuna plaća, koristi se nekoliko istraživačkih metoda koje uključuju: analitičku, sintetsku, induktivnu, komparativnu i opisnu metodu. Može se zaključiti da svaka država ima vlastiti sustav obračuna plaća i različito regulirane osnovne komponente obračuna kao što su bruto i neto plaća, porezne stope i porezi, kao i doprinosi na plaće, a što je vrlo važno jer svaka država mijenja obračunske odrednice ovih komponenti tijekom vremena.
