Abstract
Career represents one of the biggest prospects in an individual’s life. As a lifelong process, starting from the education until the employment, until the retirement, it is a journey full of achievements and difficulties. The paper is also concerned with the Erste&Steiermärkische Bank’s management and development of its employees’ career in order to get motivated, competent, skillful and efficient employees. As one of the biggest banks on the Croatian financial market with currently more than 4.000 employees, the Bank is constantly trying to maximize the employees’ motivation and overall satisfaction regarding the career of its employees through five operative functions of selection, development of personnel, compensation, record keeping, planning and evaluation. Analysis of the operative functions is described thankfully to the HR manager of the Erste&Steiermärkische Bank, Mrs. Škorić Marija, who gave a detail insight into the Human resource process in the Bank. Prepositions regarding the improvement and further analysis of the area of focus are listed at the end of the paper.
